15 dead, 154 injured in Istanbul double bombing :

ISTANBUL: Two bombs exploded in Istanbul overnight, leaving at least 15 people dead and 154 wounded, officials said Monday, just hours before Turkey's top court begins deliberations on whether to ban the ruling party.

The city's governor Muammer Guler told that these bombs exploded in two different residential parts of the Gungoren neighbourhood on the city's European bank.The governor told that the first bomb created a small blast in a rubbish container while the second stronger explosion took place several minutes later a few metres (yards) away while a crowd gathered at the site of the first blast.He told that these blasts were not suicide attacks.Firefighters and emergency workers were dispatched to the scene and police established a security perimeter.Guler said that many people were wounded in nearby shops and all the wounded were taken to hospital through ambulances.
