WASHINGTON: In the face of this latest outrage, the Pentagon late Wednesday has accepted responsibility for the most recent cross-border missile attacks in Pakistan but insisted the strikes were upon a legitimate target.
Speaking under conditions of anonymity, a Pentagon official confirmed that rockets were fired into Pakistani territory, but held that they targeted and struck an ammunition depot under Taliban control.“The appropriate Pakistani officials were aware of the target, as it had been under observation for some time” he insisted. He added that three members of the Taliban and a member of Al-Qaeda were killed in the attack and that no civilian casualties were incurred
